Watch: Body worn-camera video from first responding officer to Allen Premium Outlets shooting on May 6

Newly released police body camera footage from the Allen Police Department showcases the events that unfolded at the Allen Premium Outlets on May 6.

During the incident at the open-air mall, eight individuals lost their lives, and multiple others sustained injuries before an officer, who happened to be nearby on another call, swiftly responded to the scene.

Remarkably, the officer successfully neutralized the shooter, ending the threat within a remarkably brief two-minute timeframe from the initial gunshots.

Following a thorough review of the case by a Collin County grand jury, it was determined on Tuesday that the officer’s use of force was justified under Texas law.

Consequently, the grand jury issued a “no bill,” signifying that no charges will be brought against the officer. The officer, who played a critical role in swiftly resolving a routine interaction that escalated into a life-threatening situation, has expressed a desire to maintain anonymity.

In a statement, Allen Police Chief Brian Harvey commended the officer’s courage and decisive actions, emphasizing how the officer promptly recognized the peril, courageously approached the gunfire, and successfully eliminated the threat.

The Allen community extends eternal gratitude for the officer’s valor and dedication.

In addition, the Allen Police Department has formally requested an impartial assessment of the incident from the International Association of Chiefs of Police, ensuring an independent review of the events.
