On March 25, 2023, around 8 a.m., the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a report about an active shooter at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe.
The South Lake Tahoe Police and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the incident. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered that a man had been shot in the head at the Hard Rock’s Center Bar.
The victim, identified as 32-year-old Omar Reyes Garcia, was quickly transported to Barton Hospital by the Tahoe Douglas Fire Department, but he later passed away.
Hard Rock Security and Surveillance provided the police with a description of the suspect and his vehicle, and deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office eventually located the suspect’s car on Highway 50 near Sierra at Tahoe.
After the incident, 24-year-old Edgar Julian Delgado and 26-year-old Savannah Racquel Tautaupale were taken into custody and booked into the EDSO jail in South Lake, CA.
Delgado was arrested for open murder by the EDSO, while Tautaupale was arrested for D.U.I. by the California Highway Patrol.
Following the investigation, the Nevada State Police announced that Highway 50 had been reopened in both directions.
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe shared a post on their Instagram account in response to the incident.
