Video: Four people shot on the Sea Cabins on Isle of Palms

Update: Four people were shot on the beach located behind Sea Cabins, as confirmed by the Isle of Palms Police Department (IOPPD).

The victims were subsequently taken to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) for treatment of injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The investigation into the incident is currently underway.

At 6:08 p.m., a video that seems to show a shooting on the beach was shared on Twitter.

Later that afternoon on April 7, a significant police presence was seen at the county park entrance on Isle of Palms, following initial reports of an incident that occurred on the beach.

At the Sea Cabins, IOP’s police and fire departments are present, as reported by city officials.

Emergency vehicles were spotted, and individuals who heard gunshots were witnesses.

A witness named Kaitlyn McCort said “I were at the isle of palms today when shots rang out close to us in a mob of people. they were on one side of the pier and we were on the other. 6 shots. Children and teenagers. a public beach. gates were padlocked by the shooter because no way would the park officials have shut those doors. they wouldn’t have. people were climbing over. Screaming. Running. Crying. We were trapped. we couldn’t get out. Kenzie got over the wall but I’m a big girl. Instead of going for it, I chose to help teenagers get over before me. Because in my mind, kids and anyone younger go first. My mother/teacher/helper instinct kicked in and I was hanging bags over, helping them up. Making sure they knew they could get out. I was going to go over after I’d gotten some people out but thankfully two guys broke one of the gates. However, instead of it being a safety, a stampede broke out with kids getting trampled by beach wagons, adults punching other. More fighting. I’ve never felt so scared and helpless standing there, rattling the door of the gate, Kenzie on the other side pushing and gripping my hands, and not being able to get out to her. Yet no one seemed scared after 10 minutes. because everyone is so used to this. You never know when someone who lost a fight is going to shoot his opponent. I don’t know for 100% but some high schoolers were talking about it.”

No suspects have been identified, and there has been no information immediately released regarding any arrests.

Police ask public to please stay out of the area.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
