A shooting outside George Wythe High School has resulted in one juvenile being critically injured and another sustaining injuries.
The school is presently on lockdown as a precautionary measure.
According to authorities, a juvenile was found outside the school in a wooded area, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, prompting Richmond officers to respond to the incident around noon on Thursday.
A male juvenile has been confirmed as the second victim of the shooting incident by the Richmond Police.
The department is presently investigating the incident at the site.
There is no information available at the moment regarding the possible shooter.
Following the shooting, Richmond Public Schools issued a statement.
“URGENT: Dear George Wythe Families, we are sending this message to make you aware that George Wythe HS is under lock and teach due to a shooting in the parking lot. The Richmond Police Department is on scene and is actively investigating the situation. Please remember that during a lock and teach, campus movement is restricted and no one will be allowed enter or depart the school until the situation is resolved. Please know the safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we will share further updates today.”
