Late rapper Tupac Shakur will be honored on June 7, with the 2,758th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Tupac Shakur was a rapper, actor, activist, poet, and revolutionary,” Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said in a statement Wednesday. “This iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come.”
Martinez predicted Shakur’s star will become one of the most popular on the Los Angeles landmark.
“Surely, as one of L.A.’s own, Tupac’s star will be added to the list of most visited stars.”

The rapper was born in Harlem in 1971, but later called Los Angeles home.
During his lifetime, he released four studio albums, with more music released after his death.
Both his 1996 album All Eyez on Me and his Greatest Hits collection have been certified Diamond, surpassing the ten-million mark.
Throughout his career, Tupac sold over 75 million records worldwide. He remains one of hip-hop’s most iconic figures.
The rapper was known for music about social issues and life in the inner city. Among his many hit singles were “Only God Can Judge Me,” “Dear Mama,” “Keep Ya Head Up,” “I Ain’t Mad at Cha,” “How Do U Want It,” “California Love,” and “R U Still Down?”
The rapper also found success as an actor, starring in films including Juice, Poetic Justice, Above The Rim, Gridlock’d, and Gang Related.
The music icon was shot multiple times on the Las Vegas Strip on Sept. 7, 1996. He died from his injuries several days later at age 25.
In April 2017, Tupac was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, making him the first solo hip-hop artist to be recognized for inclusion in his first eligible year.
The rapper and his mother Afeni Shakur are the subjects of the new docuseries Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur. The series from filmmaker Allen Hughes is now streaming on F/X and Hulu.
Hughes will speak at the star ceremony, which will be emceed by Los Angeles radio host Big Boy. Shakur’s sister Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur will accept the star on behalf of the family.
Tupac’s star is in the recording category. It will be located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard.
The ceremony takes place Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 10:30 AM PT.
