Travis Lofton arrested and charged for shooting death of Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe manager Jason Mallette in Daphne

Travis Lofton, a 41-year-old suspect, has been apprehended in connection with the shooting incident that occurred in the early morning in Daphne, resulting in the death of Jason Mallette, a 38-year-old restaurant manager.

Lofton is facing charges for the fatal shooting, which took place at the rear of Taziki’s restaurant in Daphne.

Mobile County sheriff’s deputies arrested Lofton this evening on Osage Street in the Toulminville community, near the Prichard city limits.

According to Sheriff Burch, Travis Lofton surrendered peacefully, and law enforcement discovered a weapon in his vehicle.

The victim in the morning shooting has been identified as Jason Michael Mallette, a 38-year-old resident of Daphne.

Crime Scene Investigators are still present at the scene, but their work is expected to conclude soon. Detectives have gathered several pieces of evidence and are pursuing various leads.

The incident occurred around 5:30 AM when officers from the Daphne Police Department responded to a shooting in the parking lot area of Taziki’s Mediterranean Café.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived shortly after and attempted life-saving measures, but unfortunately, the victim could not be saved.

The location and its surroundings remain an active crime scene. The suspect, described as a black male wearing a dark hoodie, fled the area on foot.
