Denzel Washington takes on the mafia — on their home turf — in the trailer for The Equalizer 3.
Sony Pictures released the first trailer online Tuesday, after previewing the actioned-packed film the previous night at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
The video shows Washington’s Robert McCall leaving behind his life as a government assassin and settling into retirement in Southern Italy.
“Because of these people, I’m beginning to understand real peace,” McCall says about the new friends he’s made.
But that peace doesn’t last long when the mafia unleashes a campaign of violence.

Sony says this is “the final chapter” of the film franchise pairing the Oscar-winning actor and director Antoine Fuqua, after the two previously teamed up on The Equalizer (2014) and The Equalizer 2 (2018). The last film is written by Richard Wenk, based on based on the television series created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim.
The cast for the final installment includes David Denman and Dakota Fanning.
The movie marks the first film Washington and Fanning have worked on together since Man on Fire in 2004, when the actress was only 10 years old.
The two stars joined Fuqua at CinemaCon to speak with reporters.
“Getting to work with Denzel Washington two times as an actor is special,” Fanning said via Extra. “Getting to reunite and be a part of this franchise, I am such a huge fan of Antoine… Being part of it was really special and a very wonderful surprise.”
Although Washington joked that it was tough to book the 29-year-old actress because her star power has surpassed his own.
“She was just too big a star. I called over and over and she said, ‘Denzel who?’” he quipped.
For this latest film, Washington said he did some of his own stunts, but mostly left them to the professionals. “I do a little bit. I throw the punches… I don’t catch ‘em!” he explained.
