Update: Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputies fatally shot a man suspected of killing two of his co-workers at a shipyard in Harvey, according to authorities.
On Monday, July 17, a shooting at a West Bank shipyard resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals, as reported by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred at the FMT Shipyard located on Peters Road in Harvey, Louisiana, at approximately 1 p.m.
According to Sheriff Joe Lopinto, two men were fatally shot; however, their ages and identities have not yet been disclosed.
The suspect involved in the incident was identified as a former employee who had recently been fired. After the shooting, he fled the scene.
Sheriff Lopinto has revealed that they possess the suspect’s name but have chosen not to release it at this point in time.
According to the authorities, it is believed that the suspect specifically targeted two men who were part of the same labor crew as him.
The nature of their work was described as labor-type jobs, possibly involving tasks such as grass-cutting and other similar manual work, as shared by Lopinto from the scene.
