A bank in Clarendon is currently the site of a robbery and potential hostage situation, leading to road closures in the surrounding area.
The Wells Fargo branch located at 3140 Washington Blvd was reportedly robbed around 3 p.m. by a man in his 20s who is believed to still be inside the bank with several employees and/or customers.
The police have cordoned off the area and dispatched a negotiator and SWAT team. Firefighters and medics are stationed nearby in case of emergency.
Police stated that the suspect indicated possession of a weapon, however, it remains uncertain whether he is truly armed.
Scanner traffic indicates that buses, including school buses, are being redirected around the affected areas.
