Suspect Aurelio Diaz arrested after Ashley Voss found dead in car outside home

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a man suspected of committing a cold-blooded shooting that resulted in the death of a Seffner woman.

Aurelio Diaz, 32, allegedly fired a fatal shot through the window of the victim’s car as she approached her residence on the 4000 block of Orange Street around 1 a.m. on Thursday.

The victim was identified as Ashley Voss by Paris Dube, who revealed to FOX3 Now that she is the grandmother of the victim’s child. Diaz was arrested just about one mile away from the crime scene.

According to Dube, she witnessed a Ring video that captured the heartbreaking moment when a man approached Voss’s car and fatally shot her. Voss leaves behind two young boys who will now have to grow up without their mother.

Dube expressed her profound sadness and frustration, wondering why someone would commit such a heinous act. She emphasized that Voss was an excellent and devoted mom who deeply loved her boys, and it is heartbreaking to know that they will never have the chance to know their mother.

Around 1 a.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from an individual who either could not or would not speak. In response, a deputy was dispatched to the location to investigate, where they discovered Voss inside a vehicle with severe upper body injuries.

On Thursday morning, Sheriff Chad Chronister characterized the woman’s death as a “cold-blooded murder,” expressing his sadness over the viciousness of the crime committed against a woman who had just returned home after a long day.

Aurelio Diaz was taken into custody without incident on Thursday around 8:30 p.m., according to deputies.

Sheriff Chad Chronister stated, “The prompt action, meticulous investigation, and unwavering determination of everyone involved in the case have resulted in taking a dangerous killer off the streets. We sincerely hope that this brings some closure to the victim’s family as they begin the journey towards obtaining justice for their beloved.”

Diaz is facing charges of first-degree premeditated murder. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is currently continuing its investigation into the case.
