On Thursday afternoon, an incident of gunfire occurred in the vicinity of the Denver Zoo and City Park, causing injuries to an individual. Denver Police (DPD) announced on Twitter that they were examining a shooting that took place in the 2300 block of Steele Street, and later confirmed that it was not on the premises of the nearby zoo.
Although one person was discovered in the locality, it remains unclear what their state of health is.
According to DPD, they are gathering intelligence about any possible suspects and have concluded that the public is not in danger at present.
The department has stated that a reverse 911 alert would be issued for the affected regions if required.
Despite the fact that some schools are located in that vicinity, a spokesperson from Denver Public Schools has confirmed that all educational institutions are functioning normally.
This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
