In the early hours of Sunday, a shooting incident occurred at a party in Texas, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to five others, as confirmed by the police.
The incident took place at an events center in Amarillo around 12:50 a.m., triggered by a physical altercation that escalated when an individual produced a firearm and began firing.
One person lost their life at the scene, while six others were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
Unfortunately, one of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, while the remaining individuals are anticipated to recover from their wounds.
As per the police, two victims lost their lives in the incident. One of the victims, Semagea Deveon Smith (also known as Smitty), aged 32, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other victim, Dequincton Tequan Taylor, aged 28, succumbed to injuries while being treated at the hospital.
Six of the victims were transported to local emergency rooms by both ambulances and private vehicles, while the remaining five victims sustained injuries of varying severity but are anticipated to make a full recovery, according to police statements.
Law enforcement officials informed FOX3 News that there were evident indications of a large gathering with substantial alcohol consumption.
