Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story premiered May 4, and it already reigns over the competition on Netflix.
The Bridgerton prequel series made a dramatic entrance on the platform’s global top 10 TV chart and is the No. 1 English-language show for the week of May 1 to 7.
Since it debuted, the six-episode royal drama has been watched for 148.2 million hours on the platform.
The Shondaland series follows the young queen’s marriage to Britain’s King George III.
The series stars India Amarteifio in the titular role alongside Corey Mylchreest as the king. Bridgerton cast members Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury) and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet) reprise their roles from the original series.

The cast of the limited series also includes Arsema Thomas as young Lady Danbury, Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta, Sam Clemmett as Young Brimsley, Freddie Dennis as Reynolds, Richard Cunningham as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim as Adolphus, Rob Maloney as the Royal Doctor, Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury, and Hugh Sachs as Brimsley.
Shonda Rhimes is showrunner, executive producer and writer of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Betsy Beers and Tom Verica co-executive produce.

Following Queen Charlotte on the Netflix chart, returning shows Sweet Tooth (60.4 million hours viewed) and Firefly Lane (54.3 million hours ) come in second and third place. Political dramas The Diplomat (31.1 million hours viewed) and The Night Agent (26.8 million hours viewed) came in fourth and fifth.
On the film side, the Tom Hanks-led A Man Called Otto takes the top spot with 13.48 million hours viewed. The comedy drama is adapted from a Swedish novel and centers on a grumpy old man who wants to end it all after losing his wife, but finds a new appreciation for life when a young family moves in nearby.
The movie is followed by several older titles that are new to Netflix, including Pitch Perfect with 11.4 million hours viewed. The Deep End of the Ocean was third with 10.2 million hours viewed. Wrong Place (9.6 million hours) and The Dilemma (6.8 million hours) round out the top five.
