One person injured in a shooting on Interstate 71 just northeast of downtown Columbus

On Tuesday afternoon, there was a shooting on Interstate 71 located to the northeast of downtown Columbus, resulting in one person being injured.

Initially, the Columbus Division of Police dispatchers reported that there were multiple people shot on the interstate, but Sergeant Joe Albert from the Columbus Police confirmed with FOX3 that only one person was taken to Grant Medical Center.

Police found the injured individual in stable condition in the southbound lanes of I-71 near East Main Street, but the circumstances of the shooting are not yet clear.

As a result, sections of I-71 and I-670 in the vicinity were closed down.

Police anticipate that the highways will reopen soon.
