With Meta shutting down its Facebook Watch division, Nick Cannon thinks there’s a silver lining to it all — the cancellation of “toxic” Red Table Talk.
The multi-hyphenate offered his opinion on the ending of Jada Pinkett Smith’s digital talk show on Thursday (April 27), during his new radio program, The Daily Cannon.
In Cannon’s opinion, RTT was the reason Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.
“If there was no Red Table Talk, then he wouldn’t have slapped the sh-t out of Chris Rock,” Cannon said.
“I’m talking about that toxic table,” he added. “Too much honesty can get your a– slapped in the face.”

Cannon added that Smith never should have appeared on Red Table Talk in July 2020, to discuss his wife’s “entanglement” with much-younger singer August Alsina, which happened while Will and Jada were separated.
Instead, Cannon said some things should only be discussed in private.
“That was royalty, Will and Jada. Then they brought it to the table. I don’t want to know all this sh-t about y’all,” Cannon said. “Some stuff, I just want to mind my Black-owned business. I don’t want to be up in everybody else’s kitchen. Keep that sh– to y’all selves.”
“F–k that table,” he added.

For those who missed the infamous episode of RTT, Jada said she went public with the matter after August sat down with radio host Angela Yee a month earlier and claimed in a viral YouTube video that Will had given him “his blessing” to have a relationship with Jada.
“I felt like it was really important to come to the table to really clear the air,” Jada said on Red Table Talk.
“One of the reasons I wanted to come to the table is the media, the headlines,” added Will, as he sat across from his wife at the red table. “We specifically never said anything. Coming to the table, we just felt like it got to the point where you gotta say something.”
Jada explained, “One thing I want to clean up… one of the things that was swirling in the press was about you giving ‘permission’ which is, the only person that can give permission in that particular circumstance is myself.”
The episode was viewed more than 15 million times in the first 24 hours, setting a record for the most views ever on a Facebook Watch original video.
Despite detractors of Red Table Talk, the show has a huge fan base with over 11 million followers on Facebook.
As previously reported, it may not be over just yet. The show’s producers said Thursday they are shopping it around in hopes of bringing it back.
“We at Red Table are in talks of finding a new home and we’ll see you soon,” producers said in a statement on Facebook.
