Gerardo Torres Rentería, former correspondent for the Telemundo network in Acapulco, was shot to death this Thursday by armed men at his home located on Calle 2 in the Icacos neighborhood, in the port of Guerrero.
The first reports state that the state police cordoned off the vicinity of the home of the man who for several years left the report for the United States chain.
A police operation was mounted at the scene that included the Armed Forces and the first information is that he received three gunshot wounds.
Witnesses say that after the shots against the former collaborator of TV Azteca and Reuters, the alleged murderers fled in an unknown direction.
Staff from the Guerrero State Attorney General’s Office carried out the first expert work.
Then, personnel from the Forensic Medical Service took charge of the ex-reporter’s body to transfer it to their facilities and carry out the legal necropsy.
For this murder, the local prosecutor’s office will open investigations to establish responsibilities and clarify the causes of death of the former journalist.
