Update: Numerous police vehicles and officers have assembled outside the Emergency Room of Vanderbilt University Medical Center following an incident where a Metro Police officer was shot by a suspect who remains at large.
The officer is currently in critical condition.
The MNPD SWAT team successfully located and engaged the suspect, resulting in both the suspect and an officer sustaining gunshot wounds.
The suspect is being transported to a hospital for treatment.
Fortunately, no other officers were injured during the incident.

The Metro Police department has verified that an officer was shot on Thursday afternoon along Donelson Pike.
The incident took place in the 500 block of Donelson Pike at approximately 2:30 p.m.
This man is a suspect in the shooting a short time ago of an MNPD officer.
He is at large in the area of Clairidge Dr/Shacklett Dr off Donelson Pk.
He may be wearing a dark gray T-shirt. See him? Pls call 911 immediately.
