Jamie Foxx was spotted in public on Sunday, for the first time since he was hospitalized in April for an undisclosed “medical complication.”
The Ray star was recorded sitting on a large boat with several other people, as it cruised along the Chicago River.
TMZ obtained video of Foxx smiling and waving back to excited fans on a passing boat.
The Oscar-winning actor and comedian was wearing a black shirt and pants, with sunglasses protecting his eyes. He smiled broadly as the people on the other boat said they were celebrating a birthday.

Foxx was admitted to a hospital in Georgia on April 11.
His daughter Corinne Foxx shared the news in a since-deleted Instagram post and told fans, “We wanted to share that my father Jamie Foxx experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily due to quick action and great care he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
The actor’s family has remained tight-lipped about why he was hospitalized, and later transferred to a physical rehabilitation center in Chicago.
Foxx, 55, was in Atlanta filming the Netflix movie Back in Action with Cameron Diaz when he became ill.
Production was temporarily shut down on the film, but continued with stunt doubles and body doubles being used in place of Foxx.
The actor will next appear on screen in the Netflix movie They Cloned Tyrone
The film also stars Teyonah Parris, John Boyega, David Alan Grier, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Kiefer Sutherland, and centers on a government conspiracy to clone people in a Black neighborhood.
The sci-fi thriller will be released Friday, July 21, 2023 on Netflix.
