Heavy police presence at the entrance of Baptist Medical Center South

Late in the evening, an incident took place outside Baptist South, whereby hospital security alerted an off-duty police officer on the premises after noticing a suspicious person.

The officer subsequently requested backup from the Jacksonville, Florida Sheriff’s Office.

To ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and staff, the hospital was put on lockdown, which will remain in place until clearance is provided by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Fortunately, all patients, visitors, and staff members are unharmed.

The hospital is on lockdown until receive the all-clear from The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to a spokesperson from Baptist South Hospital, an incident occurred in the hospital’s parking area.

As at the time of this report, there has been neither confirmation nor identification of any victims.

No suspects have been identified, and there has been no information immediately released regarding any arrests.

Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
