According to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office and Norton Police Department, a man has tragically lost his life in what appears to be a road rage shooting on Interstate 76 near state Route 21 in Norton.

Initially, Norton police and the Ohio Highway Patrol were called to the scene of a single-car accident on I-76 eastbound near the Easton Road overpass at approximately 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday.

Upon arrival, they discovered that the driver had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

The individual who tragically lost his life has been identified as 40-year-old George Jensen from Akron.

After sustaining critical injuries, Jensen was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, where he succumbed to his wounds at approximately 6:15 p.m.

According to the medical examiner’s office, Jensen was traveling eastbound on I-76 near state Route 21 when an occupant of another vehicle fired multiple gunshots at his vehicle.

As a result, Jensen’s vehicle came to a stop after colliding with the concrete median.

According to the Norton police, a road rage incident occurred prior to the shooting involving Jensen and another driver operating a black 2018 or newer Chevy Camaro.

As both vehicles were traveling on I-76, the driver of the Camaro fired several gunshots towards Jensen’s car as it passed by.

Allison Jensen, the widow of George Jensen, expressed on Thursday that her husband strongly condemned the kind of gun violence that tragically claimed his life on Wednesday.

She described him as a kind and empathetic individual, emphasizing his intelligence and love for animals. Jensen’s untimely fate was deeply unfair, according to his grieving widow.

She noted that she became concerned when he did not arrive home at the usual time, indicating that something was amiss.
