A notable police presence was observed at the Galleria at Tyler shopping mall around 9:27 p.m. in response to a reported active shooter at the AMC movie theaters.
However, it has been confirmed that the reports were false, and no shooting took place.
Law enforcement thoroughly inspected the entire theater building and has declared it safe, as well as the Galleria building itself.
During the evacuation process, two individuals sustained minor injuries and received medical attention from paramedics.
The theater will soon resume its regular operations, while the mall has already closed for its usual business hours.
The Regal Theater at the Riverside Plaza and the Galaxy Theater in Mission Grove have also been confirmed as safe.
Riverside Police is actively investigating the source of the false reports, considering the possibility that the sound initially mistaken for gunfire may have been caused by nearby fireworks, a car exhaust, or noise from one of the movies.
