A man accused of shooting five women, killing one, in a hospital waiting room in Atlanta has been arrested after a manhunt, police said.
The man was identified as Deion Patterson, 24. He was taken into custody on Wednesday evening, the Atlanta Police Department said.
Details about the case were expected at a news conference.
Earlier, Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum told reporters that officers were called at 12:08 p.m. to a medical facility at Northside Hospital. The suspect allegedly killed a 39-year-old woman and injured four others, ages 71, 56, 39, and 25, before leaving the building, officials said.
Authorities believe he carjacked a vehicle a short distance away and fled as law enforcement descended on the area, the chief said.
An alert was put out, and officials announced a $10,000 reward for his arrest.
The search extended into nearby Cobb County.
The motive for the shooting was unclear, the chief said.
