Williams is currently employed as a news anchor for Los Angeles’ KNBC Channel 4. Williams came to KNBC in 1986 from cross-town rival KCBS-TV, where she had been anchoring the 5 p.m. news for three years before leaving to join NBC News. Williams anchored for KPIX-TV, a CBS station in San Francisco, prior to her arrival at KCBS (which was then KNXT) in Los Angeles.

Williams was especially noticeable during the O. J. Simpson murder trial, which she covered for KNBC and MSNBC, co-anchoring a daily synopsis of the proceedings each evening. Williams took over for long-time 11 p.m. anchor Kelly Lange after the Simpson trial ended. Williams began her journalistic career with WOWT in Omaha after teaching for a few years in the Omaha Public School system.
