On Friday afternoon, there was an incident near the Mall of America that the Bloomington Police were addressing.
At 4:45 p.m., the police tweeted that their officers were present in the vicinity of American Boulevard and 24th Avenue, where a person was suspected to be carrying a firearm.
According to a subsequent tweet, crisis negotiators are in contact with the male individual and trying to persuade him to surrender.
The surrounding roads have been closed, and the public has been advised to stay away from the area.
The Royal Canadian Circus tents are situated in the mall’s North Parking Lot off American Blvd. and 24th Ave, and numerous MnDOT traffic cameras and social media videos depict a significant police presence in the vicinity.
Although the Metro Transit Blue Line trains continue to operate at the mall, buses have been rerouted to 30th Ave Station due to road closures, with the exception of Route 54, which is being directed to Terminal 2 Station for the time being.
This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
