After Biden praised Kamala Harris, the vice president, and said she hadn’t “gotten the credit she deserves,” Ruhle responded, saying, “Critics would say you’re elevating her because they think you wouldn’t serve a full term, and it’s fair to say that there’s not a Fortune 500 company in the world looking to hire a CEO in his 80s.”
She questioned, “So why would an 82-year-old Joe Biden be the right person for the most important job in the world?” Because I am far wiser and more knowledgeable than the great majority of people, Biden said.
He said, “I think I’ve proven myself to be honourable as well as effective,” and claimed to have “more experience than anyone that has ever run for office.”
If reelected, Biden, who is presently 80 years old, would begin his second term as president at the age of 82. He is already the oldest president of the United States.
Ruhle brought out earlier in the discussion that Biden had “10 times” mentioned Vice President Harris in his first reelection video from last month.
She continued, “When Obama was in that position, he didn’t mention you, sir,” to which Biden responded that, while they “became very good friends” over the Obama-Biden administration, “we just had a slightly different style of how we do things.”
Biden also discussed House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in the interview, describing him as “an honest man” who “sold away everything” to the “far, far right.”
