According to Belen Schools Superintendent Lawrence Sanchez, Belen High School has been placed on a modified lockdown due to a report suggesting the presence of a weapon on campus.
Belen police are currently conducting a thorough search, but as of now, no weapon has been found.
Due to the modified lockdown, students from Belen High School will be unable to board their buses until the campus receives clearance from the police.
Sanchez reassured that arrangements will be made to safely transport middle school and elementary students home, although it may take some time.
Additionally, parents will not be permitted to pick up their children at the high school until the campus is officially declared safe and cleared.
This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
