Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta has parted ways with Erica Mena after she yelled a racial slur at her castmate Spice.
In a statement on Saturday, Sept. 2, the team behind the hit MTV reality series said Mena would not be returning next season.
“The Love & Hip Hop franchise has never shied away from hard conversations in our community,” the post began. “Working hand-in-hand with our partners, viewers will see the impact of Erica Mena’s remarks play out in the final three episodes of the season.”
The statement continued, “Effective immediately, she will not appear in the next season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.”

Fans have been calling for Mena to be fired since the Aug. 29 episode of the show.
In a viral exchange, Mena — who is Dominican-Puerto Rican — yelled at Jamaican dancehall singer and actress Spice — who is Black and has blue hair — “you f–ing blue monkey!”
Tensions between the two escalated during a discussion about their families and Mena’s divorce from fellow LHHATL star Safaree Samuels.

Mena, 35, shares two young children with Samuels and is also mom to a teenage son from a previous relationship. Spice, born Grace Latoya Hamilton, shares two children with ex-fiancé Nicholas Lall.
Spice, 41, told Mena, “I feel like you’re acting like you’re the first woman to be divorced and you’re the first woman that’s left with two children to fend for. I’ve been doing it for 14 years, welcome to the club.”
Mena shot back, “I’ve been doing it for 16, 16, 16 years.”
Spice cut her off and yelled, “With a son that don’t like you.”
The two women started shouting at each other, then Mena flipped over a table and they started fighting.
Security and fellow cast member Shekinah Jo tried to separate the women.
As Erica walked away, she yelled: “That b–h should’ve died!”
Spice yelled back, “Your son hates you, b—h!”
Mena responded, “You monkey, you f—ing blue monkey!”
Fans criticized Spice on social media for bringing up Mena’s child. But most of the backlash was directed at her co-star for using an anti-Black racial slur.
While speaking with Forbes about the viral exchange, Spice said: “I know what I signed up for, so I’m good. I’m in a better space right now.”
Mena’s firing came a week after she was arrested in Atlanta and charged with three misdemeanor battery counts and one felony count of willful obstruction of law enforcement officers by use of threats or violence, following a confrontation with security guards and police officers in a bar on Aug. 25.
