A tragic incident unfolded in Baja California, as an armed group opened fire on participants of an all-terrain car race.

Witnesses report that 10 people lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries in the violent attack.

The incident took place in the southern region of Ensenada.

At the moment “it is in close coordination with the Baja California State Attorney General’s Office, in order to assist in the inquiries that lead to the clarification of the facts,” they reported.

Mayor Armando Ayala Robles regretted the attack perpetrated against runners who participate in the activities of the event called “Cachanillazo”, whose participants left the Playa Hermosa area this Saturday morning.

“I am in permanent communication with the State Attorney General’s Office, as well as with the federal corporations of the three levels of government to provide all the necessary information.

Likewise, surveillance was increased in the delegations of the southern area of the municipality and the operations to locate those responsible for the attack remain active, “he said.

He recognized the support of the State Attorney General, Ricardo Iván Carpio Sánchez, who commissioned a special investigation group to address this unfortunate fact. According to the municipal police, at 2:18 p.m. a report was received warning of firearm detonations, as well as several injured people.

The report also indicated that in the area located on the Transpeninsular highway, kilometer 90 in the area of the San Vicente delegation, a recent model gray van arrived, from which people got out and began shooting with long weapons at the runners. who were parked.

Personnel from the municipal Police, State Citizen Security Force, Secretary of the Navy, State Investigation Agency (AEI), Secretary of National Defense, Fire Department and the Mexican Red Cross, went to the area to attend to the emergency.

The State Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with SEDENA, SEMAR, the State Citizen Security Force (FESC) and the Ensenada Municipal Police, is responding to the report of an attack against civilians registered in the town of San Vicente, in the municipality of Ensenada, Baja California.

The State Attorney General, Ricardo Iván Carpio Sánchez, specified that the attack occurred around 2:00 p.m. at the height of the community of San Vicente, located south of the municipality of Ensenada, requiring the mobilization of the three orders of government to find those responsible.

He specified that a special investigation group is moving towards said community, with the aim of reinforcing the tasks of the various corporations in the area and bringing those responsible for the attack to justice, who according to the first reports fled in two vans.

He also indicated that the FGE will adequately report on the progress of the investigations and the process to achieve justice in the unfortunate case.
