In late June and early July 2023, Oxenreiter’s fans have been wondering what happened to him because he has not been seen on his sportscasts. On July 12, 2023, WPXI explained that Oxenreiter underwent open heart surgery and he was recovering at home. The surgery took place one month ago to replace two heart valves. Unfortunately, he developed a serious blood infection that spread to his heart, leading to complications that slowed down his recovery process. While he is making progress, it will be a long journey toward a full recovery.
During this challenging time, Oxenreiter greatly appreciates the prayers, thoughts, and well wishes he has received. They have uplifted his spirits and provided him with much-needed positivity. He is also deeply grateful for the dedication and care provided by the doctors, nurses, and medical staff involved in his treatment.
