9-1-1 series cast member Aisha Hinds calls the show’s pickup by ABC “a blessing” after Fox canceled the drama.
In an exclusive interview with Urban Hollywood 411, the actress spoke from the Writers Guild of America strike picket line outside Paramount Studios on Wednesday.
“Seven seasons of a show is an anomaly in this landscape these days, so to have the opportunity to do the show for yet another season is a blessing unto itself and for us to be so welcomed over at ABC is a joy and a treasure. We’re all looking forward to it and we’re excited,” she said.
“We’re glad that our family will be together, our crew will be together, our writers will be together, and that we can continue to tell these stories that are so impactful,” Hinds added.

The actress carried a WGA picket sign in a show of solidarity with writers.
“Solidarity is sacred. It’s important for us to band together,” she said.
Hinds plays Los Angeles paramedic Henrietta “Hen” Wilson on 9-1-1.
As previously reported, the first responder drama was not picked up for another season by its original home, Fox, despite it being the network’s most-watched show.
ABC didn’t miss a beat and immediately picked up the series created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear.
“The hit drama 9-1-1, starring Angela Bassett and Peter Krause, will join the 2023-2024 season at its new home on the network,” ABC said in a statement published earlier this month.
“It’s a privilege to keep 9-1-1 in the family with 20th Television producing, and we look forward to telling more heart-racing and uplifting stories about these beloved characters on our air,” Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, said in a statement.
9-1-1 first premiered on Fox in 2018 and ran on the network for six seasons.
ABC will reveal a premiere date for the series’ seventh season at a later date.
