The Caddo Parish Coroner’s office has released the names of four Shreveport men who were killed or fatally injured during an Independence Day gathering in the Martin Luther King Jr. neighborhood on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.
Among them, three individuals lost their lives at the location, marking the 38th, 39th, and 41st homicides in Caddo Parish this year.
The incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. on Pearl Street, close to Jones-Mabry Road.
At the scene, two individuals were immediately identified as deceased: Morad Aziz, aged 22, from Stewart Lane, and Jarike J. Dorsey, aged 19.
At the Pearl Street party on July 4, Demorie Williams, 24, from Martha Lane, was also shot at approximately 11:40 p.m.
He was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health hospital but unfortunately passed away from his injuries at 12:31 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.
Mr. Williams’ tragic death marked the 40th homicide in Caddo Parish this year.
Additionally, the body of a fourth individual, a 17-year-old male named Syncere Brown from Jody Lane, was discovered in a nearby field at 9:27 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5.
His death became the 41st homicide of the year. Autopsies have been scheduled for all four individuals, and the Shreveport Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
