3 U.S. Marines found dead inside a car at Speedway gas station in Hampstead

Authorities are conducting an investigation following the discovery of three deceased individuals inside a car at a gas station near the North Carolina coast over the weekend.

The incident was uncovered early Sunday at a Speedway gas station located at 14477 U.S. 17 in the Hampstead community, as reported by the Pender County Sheriff’s Office.

After receiving a call about a missing individual, police responded to the Speedway petrol station in Hampstead, North Carolina, approximately 40 minutes from Camp Lejeune, where the Marines were assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 2.

At the gas station, the authorities discovered the bodies of three Marine Lance Corporals. It was later revealed that one of the Marines in the vehicle was the individual who had been reported missing.

The vehicle was situated in the gas station’s parking lot, and a team of investigators spent several hours at the scene on Sunday.

As of Monday afternoon, the identities of the deceased and the causes of their deaths have not been determined.

Hampstead is situated northeast of Wilmington, near Topsail Beach.
