A third victim, a 16-year-old male, was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center and later flown to Phoenix with life-threatening injuries. The other gunshot victims, males ages 15, 19, 18, and 16, had non-life-threatening injuries.

There were a total of 7 victims treated at YRMC.

There were several off-duty law enforcement officers in the area that assisted with this incident.

This is an active investigation, and no suspects are in custody at the time of this press release.

UPDATE: The two deceased victims have been identified as 20-year-old Ande Blackthunder and 19-year-old Danny Garcia. Two victims were flown to a Phoenix-area hospital and are listed in stable condition. The three victims were treated at the hospital and released. The victims were transported to the hospital by both ambulance and private vehicles.

We can confirm that this was a party at a private residence.

That the parties knew each other and that over 30 rounds were fired. The homeowners were not at the residence when this party occurred but were contacted and fully cooperated. Several weapons were recovered at the scene and are awaiting forensics testing.

Our detectives have been working furiously since the shooting.

At this time, the investigators are trying to determine a motive. However, this does not appear to be a random act. We have investigative leads that our detectives are looking into.

We want to thank the off-duty personnel who assisted in this incident. They were an off-duty California Highway Patrolman, an off-duty YPD detective, two off-duty Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents, and the wife of one of those agents, who is a nurse.
