Update: The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies have reported the arrest of Jaquin Stephens, aged 16 and hailing from Gonzales.
As per APSO, Stephens was apprehended at a residence in Livingston Parish and subsequently placed under custody.
He is facing charges of second-degree murder, along with illegal use of weapons and unlawful possession of a handgun by a juvenile, as outlined by the deputies.

In Gonzales on Friday, August 4th, a tragic incident occurred where a 15-year-old girl lost her life due to a gunshot inflicted by her 16-year-old boyfriend. This information was confirmed by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The victim has been identified as Gracie Limas, a resident of Gonzales and a student at East Ascension High School. Sheriff Bobby Webre reported that APSO detectives procured an arrest warrant for Jaquin Stephens, aged 16 and also from Gonzales, in connection with the unfortunate shooting incident.
Reflecting on the tragedy, Sheriff Webre expressed, “We received a call at the sheriff’s office about this young, beautiful 15-year-old girl who has been shot and unfortunately has passed away.”
The two individuals were said to be in a relationship when Stephens experienced jealousy, leading him to shoot her.
According to law enforcement, the dispute originated on social media. The motive behind this incident appears to revolve around feelings of jealousy. Sheriff Webre commented, “Based on our findings, it seems jealousy is the driving factor in this case.
We’re aware that they were in a relationship and an initial argument escalated, prompting him to arrive at the residence armed.”
Authorities have issued a search for Stephens in connection with charges of second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons, and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
On Friday at approximately 11:53 p.m., deputies were called to a residence on Bourque Road in Gonzales regarding a reported fatality. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a deceased young woman in her bedroom, having suffered a gunshot wound.
As part of their inquiry, officials pinpointed Stephens as a person of interest.
