Update: A 15-year-old boy who was shot in the parking lot of Roosevelt High School this afternoon has died, a D.C. Council member told FOX3.

According to the police, a shooting incident occurred on Wednesday at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Northwest Washington, D.C., resulting in a teenage boy being shot.

Upon receiving a report of the shooting in the parking lot behind the school on 13th Street NW, both D.C. police and firefighters swiftly responded to the scene.

Police stated that the teenage boy was transported to a hospital in critical condition by medical personnel.

Witnesses reported seeing medics administering CPR to the young boy. As a precautionary measure, Roosevelt High School, MacFarland Middle School, and Dorothy I. Height Elementary School have been placed on lockdown.

Powell Elementary School is currently on “alert status,” as communicated by D.C. Public Schools.

In order to facilitate the ongoing police investigation, the 4300 to 4400 blocks of Iowa Avenue NW have been closed in both directions.
